Why we built it

We spent our careers proving things.

The Ryka Labs team's background is pharmaceutical — regulatory, composition and supply chain. In that world you don't get to say a product works. You prove it, in writing, to someone whose entire job is finding the hole in your argument. It is slow, unglamorous and occasionally infuriating. It is also the only reason you can trust anything in a pharmacy.

Then we started reading the labels on the supplements in our own cupboards.

One

cited a study to justify its headline ingredient. The bottle contained a fraction of the amount that study used.

Another

listed nine impressive ingredients inside a “proprietary blend” — a legal construction that makes it impossible to know how much of anything you're taking.

A third

used magnesium oxide — cheap, and poorly absorbed — and printed only the compound weight, which is the larger of the two numbers available.

None of it was illegal.
Most of it was useless.

So we built the one our old jobs would have signed off. Eight ingredients chosen because the evidence supports them, at the amounts the research actually used, in the forms that absorb — every number printed on the front, and every batch independently analysed and published in public.

It is a slower and more expensive way to make a supplement. It's the only way we know how to make one we'd take ourselves.

The receipts

So here is ours, in the format we'd have had to submit it.

Every form named. Every number printed. Both weights shown wherever a mineral appears — the elemental amount your body works with, and the compound weight everyone else prints on its own because it looks bigger.

Batch 01

Publishes at rykalabs.com the day it lands. We haven't seen it either.
The certificate confirms what's in the bottle. It doesn't promise what it will do — that's what the 90 days are for.

If a label only gives you one number for a mineral, ask which one it is.

Why these eight

Four rules decided the formula.

Most testosterone supplements are built backwards — pick the best-known names, dose them low enough to stay cheap, hide the numbers in a blend. We started from the other end.

Evidence, or it's out

Every ingredient had to have human research behind it that held up when someone tried to replicate it. Popularity was not a qualification.

The dose the research used

Not a tenth of it for the label. If we couldn't afford the amount the studies actually used, the ingredient didn't go in at all.

The form that absorbs

Unbuffered bisglycinate, not oxide. Picolinate, not oxide. Standardised extracts, not "root powder". The form matters more than the number in front of it.

No fluff, no blend

Nothing added to look impressive on a label. No proprietary blend to hide behind. Eight ingredients, every one accounted for on the front of the bottle.

Defend — hold what you have
Zinc 15 mg · Nettle root 450 mg · Boron 6 mg

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood.

Picolinate, elemental weight stated. Nettle and boron carry no authorised claims — they're named and dosed, and their research lives on the science page, not here.

Sustain — get through the day
Magnesium 73.33 mg elemental · Rhodiola 250 mg

Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Unbuffered bisglycinate — buffered bisglycinate is oxide in disguise. Rhodiola standardised to its trial markers; unstandardised extract can contain almost none of the active compounds.

Regulate — run the machinery
Vitamin D3 2,500 IU · K2 25 µg · B6 2 mg

Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity. Vitamin D contributes to normal muscle function. Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones.

The unglamorous half. Nobody markets B vitamins, which is exactly why they get underdosed.

The ninth ingredient, and why it isn't here.

Ashwagandha is the most searched ingredient in this category and would have sold the most bottles. The UK Food Standards Agency has an open safety review into it, there is no established safe level in the UK, and Denmark has banned it in supplements. We could have waited to see how that lands. We took it out instead — and lost the most recognisable name on the label doing it.

What to expect

Two layers. Two timescales.

Some of this formula is doing something from the first serving. The rest sits on research that runs eight to twelve weeks. We are not going to tell you you'll feel different by Friday — here is what the evidence actually covers, and when.

Nutrient layer — authorised claims apply throughout MAGNESIUM · ZINC · D3 · K2 · B6 Botanical research window — weeks 4 to 12 NETTLE ROOT · RHODIOLA Studies not yet Beyond study length Judge it here WEEK 0 WEEK 4 WEEK 8 WEEK 12+ WHAT THE EVIDENCE COVERS
Authorised nutrition & health claims — apply from the first serving Where the published botanical research measures its outcomes

This chart shows what the research covers and when it was measured. It is not a prediction of how you personally will feel — nobody can honestly give you that, which is the entire reason the window is ninety days and not thirty.

Weeks 1–4 · The nutrient layer

Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood.

Do this now: write down how you feel this week. Two minutes. You won't remember accurately in three months.

Weeks 4–8 · Consistency

The window most published research measures. Taking it daily matters more than the time of day — missed days are the commonest reason men decide something did nothing.

Do this now: beside the kettle beats inside a cupboard.

Weeks 8–12 · Judge it

Where the research says to form a view — not week two. Read back what you wrote in week one and compare it honestly against how you feel now.

Do this now: decide. Keep going, or don't reorder. Both are fine by us.
